History

Mr. Freeze Ice Distributor was established on June 1987, primarily to engage in the “Retailing and Distribution” of various types of ice products. The company was organized and headed by Mr. Gerald “Gerry” Santos; Gerry is a Bachelor of Science in Commerce graduate of San Beda College major in Business Management. His young and highly motivated spirit, his educational background and wide network of business connections helped him make a name in the ice retailing business in just a short span of time. His management style and marketing strategies aided him to develop more and more satisfied clients. And due to the increasing demands of the ice industry at that time, Gerry had no other choice but to tie-up with big ice plants and purchased more delivery trucks in order to support its growing number of clients.

On July 2005, Gerry had established his very first ‘Tube Ice Plant’ initially utilizing one (1) unit U.S. made; semi-automated ‘Vogt’ Ice machine situated at the heart of Quezon City. His passion for excellence, and his dedication and commitment to support his clientele prompted him to invest heavily on two more ice machines with same brand as that of the first one, thus giving birth to his 2nd and 3rd plants, both also situated in Quezon City. But after about a year or two, Gerry decided to vacate the 3rd plant and transferred the machine to its first plant. Such move improved the management and control of the two remaining plants and maximizing on the use of its available resources. And just barely 2 years after, Gerry purchased 3 more additional machines thus making the two plants in Quezon City to operate with three (3) machines.

And on January 2010, Gerry launched the birth of its 3rd tube ice plant equipped with three brand new ice machines with its plant facility strategically situated in the Malabon area. In addition, a fourth machine was added to its 1st plant being the Main Plant. And as part of the company’s expansion program, Gerry created GJ Santos Inc. which is responsible in the operation of Mr. Freeze Ice Distributor being the Trade Name. Five years ago, Gerry started only with one plant with one machine. Today, he now has three tube ice plants with a total of ten ice machines all operating on a 24/7 operation.

Aside from the continuous efforts of the management to increase the company’s production capacity, the company has consistently managed to develop ways and means to maintain and even improve further the quality standards of its products and services. At present, the plants are equipped with “Ultra Violet Water Purifier” that will ensure production of “zero-bacteria tube ice”. In addition, the management also developed various GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) in its plants not only to ensure its desired product and service quality standards but also to assist the company in attaining its goal to become the number one ice manufacturer and distributor in terms of safety and customer service.
